I dislike the idea of channel strips - UNLESS - you can have independant control over each of the components. There are a few that allow this and I have only tried one of them, the ones that come to mind (I am not saying this is a complete list) are the Pendulum Quartet, Buzz ARC, Focusrite ISA 430 MKII (tried this one - me like).

I don't necessarily agree that the negative Vintech views on this site but it would also not be the first strip that I would consider.

In terms of bang for the buck the AMEK CIB is an outstanding value ($1300 to $1400 USD). You can sometimes find 430 MKII's on Ebay for about $1900. If you liked it you could someday get another and you would have seperately operating stereo comressors and EQ's which could allow for more flexibility in the future.

A lot of guys don't like to fuss around with patchng and things like that but if I had to spend the money I would buy the individual components I liked. Hope that helps, cheers.
