Get yourself a API 2500 or a Smart C1 if you want real compression, not only the attack is to slow on the 2044, it has a un~wanted mid low boost that I hate the most. O I forgot to mention the stuff is way overpriced, I will say the 2044 is quiet as a mouse, understand the AD series such as your 2022, a 2044, 2055... the design came from a company named krell audiophile (google it and look at the price...
