I know it may work under certain circumstances and you need at least another computer, where you install the "older" OS X version. I tried that with my macbook, it did boot, but without graphics hardware accelleration, simply because apple doesn't write drivers for "Tiger" anymore. -
Maybe in a Mac Pro you can put an "older" video card which is supported, but I really wouldn't recommend it anyone.
Fact is the system version which comes with your Mac is the minimum supportet version and that information is branded somwhere in BIOS.
