I've gone from XP to win7 32 bit and for the most part, running better than ever. Even if the ram limit's are the same, things are running more smoothly for me (less crashes, quiker response... etc). Most plugin's will work good, hardware may be an issue but chances are good most common devices will work.

I fear upgrading to 64 bit however because of further software inconpatibility. If anyone else recommends it would like to hear about it.
