I was actually VERY impressed with the Egnater Rebel. It can be flabby, but did you try using the 'tight' switch? Cleaned up my distorted palm muting. I have to admit, I only tried the dirty settings, I was having a good time so I never went to clean!!!
I did like the Vox as well, but I preferred its chimey sound for clean and low gain settings. The gain got a little buzzy with a medium gain rock setting, but that could've been the cab it was hooked up to.
