Its something that I have found that works for my voice which is naturally on the mid/high side of the spectrum. The next time you record vocals and before you pull out any EQ or Compressor, insert a Frequency analyzer and see what frequencies make up that voice. The key is getting rid of unwanted frequencies while still sounding natural. For MY voice, I can live with loosing some hi end detail and still have good clean intelligible vocals.
