I personally use Kontakt mostly because of its library (VSL Kontakt edition) and its convolution reverb. As for changing sounds, I recently did a test with that here:

Not a sequencer like Logic; but Reaktor has some ensembles (basically complete synthesizer + sequencer combinations, ready to play) that contain simple step sequencers or groovebox-like pattern sequencers.
