I always find it interesting that people never make the extremely obvious observation that, if the point of religion is to provide a set of rules to have us live a good life and be just fand fair, but even if we follow them we are still damned if we don't give alleigance to a God, then that God is clearly more concerned about his ego than about whether we do good or not. What kind of example is that, and what kind of God is that? Who'd want to kiss the butt of that kind of egomaniac?
