Hi there folks!
I'm away visiting relatives and thought I'd pop in and say hello to you good people.
A few thoughts about different "modes" of gift giving, in no particular order...
I enjoy the first PM method when I'm in the mood to perform a random act of kindness. There's an instant gratification element to it, takes no time to plan, and it can be exciting knowing that
anyone could win. Admittedly I've been doing it this way less and less frequently over time.
I enjoy doing giveaways that involve games and contests when I'm interested in seeing a bunch of people jump in and frolic together. It brings fun to the thread, as well as a sense of community, and gets the creative juices flowing. Love it!
There have also been giveaways in which I've asked people to write to me and essentially confide. This is the way to go when the interest isn't so much in fun, but catharsis. It gives me a chance to get a real sense of the various participants, and to carefully feel my way through the process of selecting a recipient. This can be a deeply moving experience, and also a very challenging one in terms of deciding who wins. Sometimes drawing randomly from a hat ends up being the way to go.
OK, I've rambled on long enough!
Take care all,
RBZ
