I wouldn't necessarily say "budget" equipment but an MPC, Reason and PT LE. What lacks in so much music coming out lately is good mixes thru a console in a well-tuned room. It matters...big time. The studios that Deathrow used to record at would FLOOR you how nice they were.
But, it is what it is. Yeah, maybe budget equipment!
