this is where we disagree and there needs to be an education campaign by the RIAA, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, etc... all copyright organizations need to inform everyone, just as you as to the real issues here. it is not your birthright to get copyrighted works for free. it just isn't.
There is so much MISINFORMATION (Lack of Education) and DISINFORMATION (TBP Propaganda) that people just need to understand that by doing this they are sh*ting where they eat.
All too many people have come onto these forum discussions with your arguments - which you can now see don't hold water.
so then we end up back at "but you can't stop, so change the business" which is maybe at best half right.
sure the business needs to evolve, and if you search my post you will see real solutions by myself, like this one:

However, the first step in the process is education and protection of Copyright, IP, Performance Rights, etc. It's both. It's not either/or.
BTW - if you want a lot of FREE MUSIC you can get it here, LEGALLY:
SoundClick - Free MP3 music download and much, much more.
That is what music sounds like without the infrastructure of an industry dedicated to the investment in music as an artform.
