ACtually that's not accurate. The higher end mixers are use by top audio professionals all over the world. Many Many grammy and award winning recordings are mixed on Yamaha digital mixers. I don't believe you have heard the n12 and StudioLive side-by-side.
There is also a lot more to recording a project than channel count or specs. It's about workflow and staying focused on the vision that you start with early on in the process.
