Here we go again... In conducting any sane argument on this subject, without even picking a side, I think people need to agree on a few things:
1. artists (and supporting cast) need to be fairly compensated for their investment and work - if quality artists can't get fair compensation for their work, who's going to continue on the investing time/effort/money?
2. the cost of digital replication/storage/distribution is a non-barrier (including 'pirates') and there is always a way to break a protection scheme - yell and holla on "thief! thief!" is not going to do anything on this.
IMHO, each side look mostly at one of the points and stick their respective heads in the sand on the other point.
