Whether the initial post is about SNR as defined by analog noise floor (as would be practical in the real world), SNR as defined by dithering noise floor (as Bob K's quote in that post seems to suggest) or quantization distortion "noise floor" as the first sentence in the post seems to suggest... who knows.

Confusion over that those different aspects of the theme is pretty much what this thread has been about so far... Now that they are untangled, we can actually get on with it and share / learn. Actually, seeing them get untangled has already been quite insightful to me. Thanks!
