Îf there are so many lawyers and executives dedicated to bringing a very very small part of pirates to the courts, why aren't they trying to change the old and inefective business model? That's a simple question that no one here was able to give me an answer. Do the labels like to lose money to make a point? |
Because :
1- They don't give anything to any artist
2- What is a lot of money for 10 to 20 people ( let's say Several hundred thousands Euros) is nothing for an industry . Deezer ( free streaming legal site ) makes 870 Millions Euros / year through ads, yet they give only 7O million to the artists which divided between all the tracks played represent something like 140€/year per song (for popular ones : 200000 plays). to be divided between record companies, artists rights , composers, publishers, legal side rights .
It's a business model that works only for those who hold the site , not third parties .
