IMO the world needs great artists with great vocals, not engineers making mediocre artists sound great. Because a lot of talented engineers can do that. With today's technology, it's not that hard (though it might be time-consuming).

But it's not the engineers fault really, they have to eat, it's the record companies fault for pushing wack music and it's the radio fault for playing it. If the radio didn't play wack music, then nobody would be wasting their time and money making it.
