have you run some benchmarks both synthetic and audio tests

32meg cache drives? Are you saying don't use them unless they are 32mb cache?
I read that someone on here say they use 10rpm HD for OS and programs but not on audio and sample storage. I am thinking that the 10-12-15 are going to be better because they have faster seek times and a sustained data rate. BUT, i am not sure and once again i am not a wizz when it comes to the fine points so i am just learning as we speak.

With regards to ram are you saying that it's pointless with 1800mhz and only get 1600mhz because???

Yeah i knew that the i7 was supposed to smoke the intel P D. BUT. I have had to set the latency from 6ms or 7ms to about 12 in order to stop pops etc.
At the moment i am just using reason4 and if i am opening samples into redrum while it is playing it will pop and click and on my old comp it didn't do it. so this is why i am asking about HDrives and ram.

I did have cubase essential 4 and i would be recording 1 track of audio and i would get pops after pressing the stop on the transport bar. I had sx3 years ago and had the same thing on another computer. so i am freaked out bcos i am just about ready to upgrade to cubase5 and record alot more so i kind of figured that if i have problems now then i am going to be worse off after upgrading with plugs etc.

Another thing is this: if i start and stop while using audio i get a high flick on the disk usage meter and thats what made me think about the Hdrive being slow.

Basically i need to push it to the max and have no problems. I would say that my track counts would be over 40 and using alot of samples and plugins, i fancy using UAD2 cards but i have to wait a minute.

Is my motherboard okay? i said what it was in the first post.

I know i am asking alot but this is my only option. thanks for the help to all of you even if i havent replied to you. nice1
