Hello, Okay, i have been thinking about upgrading my hardrive to 15RPM for audio and samples and even changing my OS hardrive from 7200rpm to 10RPM or 15RPM or 12 ect.
I know about noise and heat, but if the performance is better i will sort out the noise and extra cooling after.
Now it's costly for these drives and money is tight for me at the moment. I just got a i7 920 and i feel it is faster than my old PC in some area's but when i am opening samples it feels slower and i am pissed about it. so this is why i am changing a few things HD's RAM ect.
I have been looking at RAM and i would like to know if
Corsair Dominator GT 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-14400C7 (1866MHz) Tri-Channel With Airflow Fan (TR3X6G1866C7GTF) is the best option for the i7. but i know i will have to overclock to match the ram, "i think". Can anybody explain?? And i am using vista64 and a ex58-ud5 and 6gb OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 - Okay i changed the base clock with this ram but then i realised that it is pointless unless the ram is capable of going higher.
Oh and, i haven't purchased cubase5 yet, but i have reason and ableton and it was to sluggish and poppy and clicky etc. I also use a RME multiface 2 pcie and i have a emu1616m just incase your wondering. I feel my i7 is slower than my old pentium D.
Anyway i know this is abit scattered but this is how it is for me, im not great on a computer as far as tech is concerned. I like to use loads of samples and when i get cubase5 i plan to record loads of tracks and use loads of plugins and vst's. anybody using an i7 920 and having trouble??
OKAY, please people i don't need smart arses or negative comments

i just want some help.
Thanks to anybody who can help
