Books are good, if well written. But ask yourself this: how did the people who write the books learn what they know?
Most of the time the operational information is all in the manual. Have you read all the manuals and documentation cover to cover and step by step?
Also, since you have internet access, there's tons of information available on many web sites, not to mention access to tons of manuals from every manufacturer.
However, if you're a total newb, then books might be a good idea to get a grip on how it all works. Sorry I don't have any specific recommendations. I've just read lots of manuals...
