IM a big fan of AT mics, but that shock mount needs tweaking. What I did is put a 1/4" wide rubber belt on the top part of the mount putting far more tension on the Mic, not a big deal but made a huge difference. AT also makes a smaller mount for the 4050 part #AT-8430 that holds the mic very securely,it has a rubber insert but not a full shock mount. Makes placement in tight areas far easier. Not sure why but its cost more than the big shock mount. I have also done the same mod with the rubber belt to AKG mounts for better holding power... Whats interesting to me is the AT shock mount is a very nice mount, it just needs more tention on the mic, the NT-1 mount INHO is a real piece of crap, but what do you expect for $100.00...
