I paid $700 for my 4000 after I traded in my 2000xl, it was a barebone system. later I added an 80GB harddrive, CD-RW Burner, and 8 analog output board, and then added 512MB of RAM, over a six month time. and now my 4000 is the single most important piece of equitment I own. Once you learn the OS, it's pretty easy to work with.
