no, its not their job, but they do do it.. business-wise its in their best interest to get talented people together to write hit songs..
i don't think you can join more than one at a time..
Good writers are hard to find... the best ones are, of course, writing with the producer du jour and making a killing.. they can pick and choose.. the good ones are also working with A level guys and can be flexible as well...
the politics of the music biz sucks if you're on the outside looking in... you can have the hottest stuff and writers wont even listen to it if the producer doesn't have a track record.
