On the other hand, some "not-for-profit" organizations are quite good clients, especially if they have a good mailing list! I've done two productions now for the Catholic help organization Centacare and they have shifted 3000 CDs each fairly quickly - they paid for my time at my normal rates for recording and booklet design, though I did donate my time as a musician...it was an interesting experience accompanying on the organ while trying to produce the recording at the same time!

Listening to all takes is always a good idea, even if many notes have been taken. I sometimes use areas that I had initially marked as unusable simply because after the heat of the session it doesn't sound too bad or it has the most character.
