Modern Recording Techniques was the first audio book ever assigned to me and it's pretty much the only one I ever needed. I've been through it in one way or another at least 4 or 5 times now.
Although, I have the 5th edition which I think came out in the mid-90s, so there's tons of information in there about Digital Recording that is pretty much obsolete now. I don't know when the last update of that book was though.
