Hi muso36,

I read on a Steinberg forum that it is suggested that "Intel Speed Step Technology" (also known as EIST in some BIOS's I think) should be turned off.
This feature apparantly allows the operating system to continually vary the speed of the CPU depending on what it thinks the most resulting economical power saving might be and this has been suggested as a possible cause of audio dropouts on Steinberg's MR816 audio interfaces (google Intel Speedstep Technology Steinberg).
Not sure if this would have anything to do with it but perhaps worth a try in the meantime,

Brian
