The various densities work best for particular duties...for example, 48-60kg/m3 densities work well for broad band control, while higher densities will absorb more low end down lower, but not as much high end. What you use depends entirely on what you're trying to achieve. If you're going to treat the whole room with one density, then I'd go with 60kg/m3 in panels of varying thickness. It's hard to go wrong with that.
