Make sure the output of the re amp box into the input of the amp is exactly the same as the output of the guitar when its plugged directly into the amp. I always find that for my starting point then I'll mess around tell it sounds tits.

Amps will act differently when the input volume is messed around with (as well as the impedance).

Also the cleaner pre amp/DI you use when recording the DI, the closer you will get to the "straight into the amp" sound. (I really do dig using a tube DI for bass before I re amp)
