IOW, I want to use a tape machine to record all my MIDI modules onto before the DAW. But I definitely want to turn the input levels up until I hear the tape compression on each instrument to tailor the levels.
How do you do this if you can't monitor the recorded sound?
I think you may be mistaken that no repro head means no monitoring to the tapes sound while recording.
