The viable alternative is to use any audio input and LPF on any semi decent synth.
I've achieved the Daft Punk effect easily using a Korg MS10, an SCI Pro One and several eurorack modules such as Doepfer and Analogue Systems.
Something with a bit of grit and a funky resonance will do just fine.
