I had to mix and record these guys to multi-track in an arena in '89.

I have played GTR since the '60s and have recorded and mic'd A LOT of great players.
All of Metallica's amps sounded like hammered, dog shit live.
yeah.. they kinda' defined a style, but their tone was WEAK.
I have recorded so many guys that killed them tone wise.
So many!

I will admit that I was limited into using Big Mick's mic'ing and they were endorsed by EV which meant they used a lot of mics that would not have been my first choice.
Still, it wasn't the mics that were causing the shit tones.

I have the tapes some where.
