I was visiting a voiceover studio that does voiceovers for commrcials (top of the line). I was amazed at how they processed the recorded voices. They slammed the waves L1 on it... And yes: that instant irriating voiceover sound is there. So if you want that (horrible) tv-sound, you don't need an expensive neumann or neve pre-amp.

For me, I use a Pealman Tm1 mic for voices. It's screaming with bass.
