Same here. I bought it to use with snare but absolutely love it on the kick. Instead of a resonant head mic I just use a tube LDC in front of the kit, a couple feet back from the kick (adjusted for phase). I've been tempted to build some kind of subkick clone but I have such good luck without it that I haven't gotten around to it yet.
