The pad sound in your track #1 makes it sound too much like X-Files TV/Dreamy type stuff. Not that it's bad, but I could see it being played to a transitional somber scene of a movie, not something you would rap to and DEFINITELY not something you would have a vocalist sing to.

The second track has more of the same feeling and flavor. More suspenseful though.

Both of these would fit very nicely into a "New Age" or "Ambient" playlist but not Hip Hop or Rap.

If Hip Hop or Rap is the direction you want to go, then you need to kill everthing but the drums and start again from there, avoiding the urge to use pads, strings and crystal rhodes sounds.
