Hedd 192 triode question

I turned on my rta the other day to look at some line noise stuff (just geeking out) and noticed something with the hedd. when i turn the triode knob i get this subsonic signal generated. it shows from about 15hz and below. if i turned it all the way fairly quickly it clipped my amplifier and made it go into fail safe mode for a few seconds.

anyone run into this before? or can anyone who has an analyzer and the hedd192 twist the triode for me and see if they see any change in that range. it was on the ad process 24 bit.

just for clarification, there was no audio running, and zero noticeable noise on the scope with the triode at zero (process still in). no trouble with pentode or tape process. the unit is brand new from the factory, and the power is fairly clean on a balanced transformer system from equitech.

thanks in advance,

k
