So I am almost ready to try out some hardware compressors.

I do mostly dance (130 to 170 bpm), and some bands.

I would like something that can work for mastering and individual instruments.

And I need something with color and character similar to a Manley Vari-Mu. But the Vari-Mu loses highs and the Phoenix is way to much money right now, though that is what I would wish for.

I would be willing to spend $3500.

So any ideas would be great, then i can go try them for myself.
