Unfortunately the bottom line is you'll need to buy a new Intel Mac, especially if you are doing native based processing with LE.
I posted this a few years ago, but for every gain you have with native processing there is another jump in code writing with a new app.
Amazing stuff in PT8, but in order for it to run just as smooth as PT 7, you WILL need a newer/faster Intel Mac.
