Most cheap shotguns sound plasticy to me. My best mic is a Schoeps MK41 and the whole reason why I got it was for movie sound (works as a great short shotgun) but that would run you way over budget. I'd think for that price you'd do better hiding some condensers around the shot and using a mixer to get them all perfect, sending that feed to the camera. Or Lavs.
