And of course part of the magic of the really classic digital reverbs is in their analog circuitry.
Yes, I know that the IR's are sampled through the analog I/O of the devices, but somehow it still doesn't feel the same. Don't get me wrong, I LIKE the Waves and the Altiverb I/R. As plug-in reverb goes, they are tops. But there's a 3-dimensional depth or something subtle that a 480 has that is hard to replicate.
I think of it more like the difference between micing a good Vox AC30 and using Amp Farm.
