Why does PT M-Powered "bounce" sound different with different interface?

Hi Guys,

I recently noticed an inconsistency of ITB bouncing in PT. I'm using ProTools-8 MP on ProjectMix and I usually listen to the 2-Mix via ADAT out to my RME Multiface. I did 2 bounces. First, outputting everything to the ADAT out in the mix. Second, outputting everything to output 1-2 on the ProjectMix. Then when I compare the two bounced files, they sound drastically different (and they correspond to how the mix sounds on the respective interfaces, which is very different). Anyone know why is this the case? So if we put D/A converters affecting mixing judgements out of the question, the interface we are using with PT has direct and different impact on how the mixdown would sound??? I thought bouncing is a pure software/mathematical routine.
