I doubt it has just automatically overwritten a protools session. It is probably user error... it happens.
Software isn't always to blame although we always jump to that conclusion first.
I haven't used PT's in a long time but is there a "recent sessions" menu or something similar under "File"? It might still be in there...
otherwise do a search, im sure its in there somewhere... You might have put it somewhere lese by accident...
