Controller keyboard + laptop VS hardware synth (for live work)

Hi. Im currently upgrading my live setup and wondering if you guys have any ideas. I currently play a mix of duo/ band stuff full time (mainly soul/jazz/ rnb/ latin).

Currently i use (rather embarassingly!) a heavily programmed expanded JV1080 through an old Korg M1 as a master keyboard. I also have a Mac g4 powerbook running reason with refills, Pro Tools LE w/ various plugins incl the B4.

I have not gigged with a laptop before and interested in hearing any peoples experiences on this.

I am unsure as whether to fork out for an alterntive to using a laptop...something like a Nord Electro 73 (board or module), a P90 or something like a Kawai Es series or MP4. Im looking for a preferably a weighted action 73 or 88 note board.

DO you think its better just to get a decent master controller and use the laptop instead. Any thoughts? bear in mind the sounds i usually use are pianos, rhodes, and organs.

Thanks 4 taking the time to read this and any of your help,

K
