If you want to distance a sound you're better off starting with a "three-pronged eq grip", meaning a bit of lo pass, a bit of hi pass and a narrow-ish notch somewhere around 1kHz........that'll set your sound further away. Then play with verb. Or for really extreme, kill the original signal and just keep it in the verb.

I read somewhere that sometimes you should use a short delay instead of reverb, in which case is this better?
And oh, I'm going to push my luck here and ask yet another!: Which reverb is better for sweeps, IR or algorithmic? I'm really confused about the difference between the two..
