Thing is...

Man, I don't want to be "that guy," but I do have to say, the "Fairlight sound" is the Fairlight. (darn, I'm now "that guy".)

The samples themselves aren't anything special, it's how the Fairlight made them sound... I think even MORE SO in the case of the Synclavier, we're talking military grade (seriously) 100khz converters and some magic that made every sound sound like it was run through a million dollar Exciter.

That said... and to be positive, if you take those samples and play them on an Emulator II, you start to really capture the vibe. that's a great do-able option!

P.S. Oh, if you're looking for some of the classic Fairlight samples, many of them ended up in romplers you'd never think to buy, but are good prices, like the Kawai K1r... seriously!
