I have a pair of GT44s. They don't suck. The only thing I dislike about them is that they can get rather strident sounding with the wrong pre. The GT44s with a Focusrite Red8 was brutal, not in the good way. With a darker meatier pre they are the shiznits. We are tracking an album right now using them on various acoustic parts with a Peavey VMP-2 tube pre and digging the sounds we are getting.
