Huge sound can be a lot of things..good preamps are a factor but there's a bunch of other things involved as well

I agree.I had the Wunders and for shits a giggles used them across the 2 buss a few times for some pop/rock stuff...worked for a few things but generally prefer things like Pultecs,etc on the mix buss.
the eq is fine tool for fairly broad,clear and warm..unsurgical things.
used the pres for overheads and room mics and acoustic stuff with good results.sold em last year to pay for some console purchases
