Besides using tested and proven mic techniques; there's always the possibility to put a second or a third fun mic in front of the same source in some kind of experimental technique. There's always the first mic as a "safety net". I put room mics on just about any source. It's hard to judge every single mic when you're on your own but in a lot of cases, these experimental extra mics are
instant succes.
