Well, even after building and using the SCA N72 (which is awesome)- the MPA gold stays in the rack. It's got it's own sound. Here's a clip MPA on vox, guitars and bass. Stock tubes. Chain is GT66>MPA Gold>Pro Vla>EMU 1820m>
Sonar 7. Love it for bass DI. I think on multiple tracks the preamp noise can add up quickly if you're not careful, though. N72>Pro Vla thumbsup up another notch on the quality ladder.
