As the Digi devices "self-terminate" you can't chain other devices off their word clock out port, which is why they need to be last in the WC chain. Digi works around this via their own Loop Sync hardware.
Their are many other's here on this board who are much more knowledgable about these issues than myself.. I'd do some searching here in the database to get a better idea of proper WC usage.
