Huh???

Well I don't know what Motifs you guys have been playing, but I've had the 88-key Korg Triton Studio for almost 3 years and was completely unimpressed by the Motif, to say the least.

I rarely use synth instruments in recording- just for live gigs.

But the Motif's piano is just, SEVERELY lacking. (Clunky and lifeless sounding.)

Radiospace I'd be curious as to whether you tried the Triton in a quiet environment, because the two don't even deserve to be compared.

All in all primo, whatever you end up getting, going in direct sounds like shit no matter what keyboard you buy. Tube preamps (if you don't already have them) are an invaluable enhancement.
