Buy an SPL meter at Radio Shack... Play some test tones and walk around the room to find the place where you get the highest volume in the room... It may be a corner, etc.... Then place the speaker there and you now have the optimal placement.
Almost as effective is simply walking around without the SPL meter and listening with your ears to where it sounds best to you and then placing it there. |
This is surprisingly, and consistently, an effective low-budget way to place a subwoofer. I've checked this with more sophisticated measurement systems and it is unsually accurate.
